Volunteering Opportunities
Our Volun-Otters are so, so important to just about every aspect of school life!
If you’re interested in volunteering, there is a wide range of opportunities that fit any kind of schedule.
Our volunteer needs are always changing, but in any given time of year, we have volunteer jobs you can do from home, volunteer jobs in the school or classroom, jobs that are a very very short time commitment, and jobs that are long term. There will be volunteer needs that require a specific skill or interest, and jobs that do not require any prior experience at all. Other things to know about being a volun-otter:
You do NOT need to be on the board to be a volunteer. Any current caregiver is eligible to volunteer.
We will periodically email to recruit volunteers, and you can visit our website to check on current needs.
For one-time special events, such as Field Day or our Welcome Back BBQ, no volunteer clearance is needed.
For field trip chaperones, anyone regularly volunteering inside the classroom, or any other volunteer job that requires regular interaction with our students, you must have a volunteer clearance from DCPS. (We'll let you know when one is needed.)
About that clearance: Even if you have no immediate plans to volunteer as a chaperone or in a classroom, we highly recommend and encourage you to go through the clearance process as early as possible, so you are ready to go when opportunities like this come up. We’ve created a guide to walk you through the clearance process. It’s free, your clearance lasts two years, and it’s easier than it used to be. Do it today!
