Now that the second half of the school year is here, we wanted put out another ask for adults to get their volunteer clearance from DCPS. Our Otters go on lots of field trips, and it isn't possible to do this without family help.
Instructions for obtaining a clearance are attached, but it is basically a three step process:
First -- obtain documentation of a negative TB test
Second -- get fingerprinted at the DCPS fingerprinting office
Three -- bring a copy of your clearance letter to Van Ness
While this is admittedly a burdensome process, we are hoping to make it a little easier by holding another TB testing session at Van Ness in February. Nurse Heidi from House Calls on the Hill will be at Van Ness on Tuesday, February 4 from 7:30 am to 9 am to administer the TB tests. She will be back at Van Ness on Friday, February 7 from 7:30 am to 9 am to read the tests. You have to come BOTH days in order to obtain your TB test documentation.
The cost of the TB test is $45 payable in cash or PayPal on the day the test is administered. The PTO can sponsor a limited number of TB test fees, so if you would like to participate but need assistance, please contact info@vannesselementary.
Note: This is just for your convenience. You are not required to use this service for a DCPS clearance and can get a test through your doctor or clinic.
Finally, a bit of good news -- DCPS clearances are good for two years, so if you obtain your clearance in February, 2020, it will be good until February, 2022.
